What the *?
Without knowing it, I am releasing the boundaries between my work and my personal life. I've found that they don't merely overlap, but instead are combined. Activities I do during my leisure time often have an uncanny way of being useful to business.
I realized this when I started having a problem with titles for the people around me. I'd start a story, My client Robin...uh, vendor, I mean -- oh dear, I guess she's my friend, too...
And I realize it when I go to networking events. So, what do you do? you inevitably ask. I never thought that would be a paralyzing question. A flood of things come to mind -- the web work, the Cultural Creatives, the artwork, or other things I like to do, like travel to New York, play backgammon, garden or meet strangers.
Good sense steps in, reminds me I'm at a business networking event and shakes my finger at all the extracurricular, so I just pick whatever I'm in the mood to talk about. Afterwards, I'm wait-a-minute-ing. And maybe it would have benefited one of the folks I met to know that I have a scuba certification...one never knows.
I belong to a few online networking groups where we're encouraged to put up a little bio and a photo. And frankly, they just don't have the canvas space I want. (haha) Hence, this web site.
I've created it help maintain the threads of who I'm becoming and what I'm doing along the way...and so that you can keep track of me. (Heaven only knows what I'll get myself into next!) But more importantly, here's a place where I'll be able to easily communicate the wonders I want to share.
Sorry. No naked baby pictures.
